Comments from peer evaluation

Excellent rapport with class... very friendly, approachable, supportive. Guided instruction. Work as partners - students stayed on task - Shandy circled around the room and helped out when needed. I believe she did an excellent job. The information imparted [income tax] was germane and timely. [Bob Heiny, Spring 2004]

I thought the atmosphere and attitude in your classroom was very positive. Your students seemed very comfortable asking questions. You did very well at asking good clarifying questions to get to exactly what your students did not understand. You never seemed to pressure the students to move on if they were still confused. ...I enjoyed how you moved back and forth from group work to working as a class. It seemed very smooth. You also never acted worried about covering all the material. It appeared as though you had time, and there was no rush to move forward too fast. You used humor in a comfortable way, i.e. your students connected to it instead of being confused or disinterested in it. [Stacy Swinburn, Fall 2005]

The structure of the class was organized. I thought the students were motivated w/the lesson. They were interactive & willing to ask questions. Atmosphere was comfortable. The group learning was very effective for the lesson [unit conversions in 1, 2, and 3 dimensions]. ... liked how someone asked a question - instead of teacher answering, she asked the class to answer. Was very interactive. Would like to do that - but not my style. [GTA, Fall 2003]
