Electronic Communication

In every college class I have taught, the possibilities of electronic communication have been explored. Students communicate with me via email within the first two weeks of a course. Students are given the opportunity to develop their email and web browsing skills very early in each class. All exam and project due dates are available on the course web site from the first day of class6, I regularly update homework assignment web pages, and the first quiz of the term typically includes questions which can only be answered by having read the course web pages. These inducements have sufficed to motivate students to figure out how to access and navigate through the course web site. Also, in the last few years, I have moved further into the realm of electronic communication through the use of BlackBoard.
